In view of an interesting documentary series between Madagascar and Mauritius, I began scouting the location with a long journey among the beauties of the Creole island. Pristine beaches, deserted islands with incredible fauna, Hindu traditions that coexist with other religions, Seven Sea rivers, the typical rum of Mauritius to be enjoyed rigorously inside a fresh coconut, while the aroma of sugar cane rages in the air. Many locations that attracted my attention to be filmed. The scouting phase is often underestimated in the documentary field, yet it proves essential when the project is long and complex and the trip is long, especially in places where possible replacement materials are not so immediate. Making contact with the authorities and local populations, starting to interact, collecting stories to then expand into the script are as important as the filming itself.
